Fire crews have worked to battle the blaze near Llandudno throughout the night and are expected to remain at the scene today.Firefighters are batting a huge mountain fire near the resort town of Llandudno for a second day. Flames and smoke can be seen billowing from Cwm Mountain near Maesdu Golf Club in the Conwy town.Smoke can be seen for miles around, with North Wales Live reporting it has been seen as far away as Abergele, Llanfairfechan and the Conwy Valley. North Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it had been at the blaze all night, with no indication of the fire being put out any time soon as patches of the mountain keep reigniting.It comes as photos showed the devastation caused to the Welsh hillside in the Cynon Valley, Rhondda Cynon Taf, by another large mountain fire. The fire above Cwmbach and Mountain Ash, which burnt for over four days, could be seen for miles around. On Wednesday morning, there were five fire engines, a narrow access vehicle and a wildfire unit tackling the blaze in Llandudno.Photos show residents from nearby homes looking on as the fire continues to burn.The service has advised people to stay away from the area and close their windows and doors if they live in the Llandudno area.Crews are expected to be at the scene throughout the day.A North Wales Fire and Rescue Service statement said: "Firefighters are working to dampen down hotspots, and we anticipate maintaining a presence in the area for some time."We’re advising the public to stay away from the area and would like to reassure residents that, although smoke and occasional small flare-ups may still be visible, it is unlikely that the fire will spread further.<br />"However, if any resident believes their property is at risk overnight, they should call 999 immediately."Despite the fact wetter weather is forecast, Natural Resources Wales is urging people visiting the countryside to have a picnic and not a BBQ.The environmental body warned it "only takes one stray spark to cause a fire that can be devastating to wildlife and communities".The fire in Llandudno has caused widespread concern in the surrounding area. On social media, one resident said that the fire was "really bad", while another said they could "literally hear the fire crackling".
